U.S. Senate Passes Paulsen-authored Legislation to Help Find Missing Children

Statement

Date: June 16, 2016

The U.S. Senate approved the Recovering Missing Children Act, legislation authored by Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) to help law enforcement locate and rescue missing children, by unanimous consent Thursday afternoon. The bill, which passed the House last month, allows law enforcement to access tax information that would help investigators locate abducted children. A government study found that this information could result in case-breaking information in 46% of missing children investigations.

"Only the President's signature is needed to provide law enforcement with a critical tool in finding missing and abducted children," said Paulsen. "This legislation fills the "information gap' that investigators often face when trying to reunite a child with their loved ones."
